MISSION STATEMENT
GREAT (Guardians of Rights, Equity, Accountability, and Transparency) is a survivor-led
organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by intimate partner and family
violence. Our mission is to empower survivors through education, advocacy, emotional support,
legal knowledge, transparency, and grievance handling while fostering a community based on
equity and accountability. We also actively engage in legislative advocacy and
coalition-building to promote systemic reforms in family court and child protective
services (CPS).
CORE ACTIVITIES
- SURVIVOR SUPPORT & COMMUNITY BUILDING
● Nightly Zoom Calls (Monday–Friday): Dedicated virtual support meetings where
survivors can share experiences, receive guidance, and engage in structured learning.
● Emotional Support: Creating a safe space for survivors to process trauma, share their
stories, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
● Dedicated Women’s Space: While our dialogue has expanded to include men in shared
activities and strategy sessions, we maintain a designated breakout room exclusively for
women to ensure a secure and supportive environment.
● Movie Nights & Community Events: Hosting periodic advocacy-related film screenings
and discussions to encourage learning and solidarity. - LEGAL & EDUCATIONAL EMPOWERMENT
● ChatGPT Support & Tutoring: Assisting survivors in using AI tools to enhance their
legal literacy and self-advocacy.
● Mock Trials & Case Review: Conducting practice legal proceedings to prepare
survivors for real-life court experiences.
● Legal Document Training: Teaching survivors how to request, retrieve, and analyze
legal documents (FOIA requests, case files, etc.).
● Complaint & Motion Drafting: Providing templates and guidance on filing complaints,
writing motions, and other legal processes.
● Custom AI Legal Tools: Training members to upload laws, statutes, and codes into AI
tools to personalize their legal research and advocacy.
- COURT SUPPORT, TRANSPARENCY & ADVOCACY
● Court Watching: Observing and documenting court proceedings to ensure transparency
and accountability.
● Affidavits of Support: Drafting and submitting affidavits for fellow survivors as needed.
● In-Person Court Support: Attending court hearings to provide emotional and
procedural support when within driving distance. - HOUSING & TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT
● Safe Housing Assistance: Some members offer temporary housing for survivors in
transition, ensuring safety and stability during critical periods. - LEGAL CONSULTATION, TRANSPARENCY & KNOWLEDGE SHARING
● Legal Education (Non-Lawyer Support): While we are not legal professionals, we
consult with attorneys when necessary and continuously educate ourselves on relevant
laws, statutes, and case strategies.
● Information Sharing & Strategy Development: Facilitating the exchange of legal
templates, case strategies, and knowledge to empower survivors to advocate for
themselves.
● Commitment to Transparency: Ensuring that legal information, case proceedings, and
advocacy efforts are accessible and understandable for survivors. - GRIEVANCE HANDLING & ACCOUNTABILITY
● Assistance with Filing Complaints: Supporting survivors in filing grievances against
individuals, agencies, or institutions that have failed them.
● Documentation & Case Review: Helping survivors document incidents, collect
evidence, and prepare formal complaints.
● Advocacy for Institutional Accountability: Engaging in advocacy efforts to hold legal,
governmental, and social service institutions accountable for addressing grievances
effectively.
● Support in Escalating Cases: Providing guidance on escalating complaints to oversight
bodies, media, or human rights organizations when necessary. - LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY & COALITION BUILDING
● Trips for Legislative Advocacy: Organizing travel to state and federal legislative
bodies to advocate for survivor rights, family court reform, and CPS accountability.
● Coalition Building: Partnering with other advocacy groups, legal professionals, and
activists to push for systemic reforms in family court and CPS.
● Policy Reform Efforts: Engaging in research, drafting policy proposals, and lobbying for
changes in laws affecting survivors and their children.
● Public Awareness Campaigns: Hosting events, participating in media discussions, and
utilizing digital platforms to expose injustices and advocate for reform.

GREAT is dedicated to fostering a community that prioritizes survivor safety, learning,
empowerment, transparency, and grievance resolution. While we have expanded our inclusivity,
we maintain a strict commitment to ensuring safe and protected spaces for those who need
them. Our mission is to continuously educate, support, and advocate for justice, equity,
accountability, and transparency for all survivors, while pushing for meaningful policy
changes that benefit families and individuals affected by intimate partner and family violence.
